On May 25, 2016, Fitzpatrick Mfg. attended the first Manufacturers Engage Conference. This event was an unconventional TED style conference discussing and solving problems and the barriers to growth in the manufacturing sector. The event was developed by Sterling Heights Regional chamber. In the city of Sterling Heights, there are hundreds of manufacturing companies, from large OEMs and Tier 1s to then smaller Tier 2 and 3 companies. As the manufacturing sector continues to grow, regardless of size the problems we face are the same problems experienced by all manufacturing companies. The conference brought many companies together to talk about these opportunities as a community moving towards solutions that benefit everyone. The topics that we discussed in detail will lead to further dialogue and the starting topic for next conference. The important topics pertain to manufacturing culture and branding as well as the plan for engaging students at the K-12 level.
