As the nation began to shut down over a period of several weeks due to COVID-19 concerns, Fitzpatrick Mfg. Co. was able to respond to demands from our SMI customers’ needs. The SMI program that we have developed and refined over the years proved to be a critical asset during this once-in-100-years issue. In more detail:
One customer, who is our newest SMI customer, was concerned with the supply chain, as state mandated closures would impact their supply chain, although Fitzpatrick was deemed critical and did not fully shutdown. Our customer was able to take in three months of inventory within one week. This was done to ensure our customer had enough inventory to last through any extended shut down.
Another customer asked for 2.5 months of inventory from our stock to be sent to one of their assembly sites on consignment. The inventory would be paid for in the month it was used, and any remaining inventory would be paid for after 2.5 months.
A third customer for whom we manufacture small parts was concerned about a shutdown at our facility due to potential positive COVID test results. Thus far, we have had zero cases of COVID at our facility, but it was requested that several boxes of inventory to be taken off site to facilitate shipping if needed. The parts were moved off site to accommodate this request, but 3 months later the parts were returned to our facility from the remote location.
